REENTRY THEATRE

REENTRY THEATRE PROGRAM

The ReEntry Theatre Program creates original theatre that highlights and investigates the complexity of real human stories. It is a supportive, creative community for people who have experienced incarceration or court involvement, and aims to raise awareness about and shift the narrative around the realities of the criminal justice system and the people involved. This program is led by a Leadership Council of formerly incarcerated individuals who recruit, mentor, and participate alongside new participants.

GET INVOLVED

The ReEntry Theatre Program is an ongoing weekly program. Participation is free and everyone who has experienced incarceration in jails, prisons, or drug rehabilitation programs, or been involved in the court or police systems is welcome to attend. Participants work with theatre professionals from Civic Ensemble to grow theatre skills, develop scenes and plays based on the ideas each individual brings, and build community.

We are currently creating a new play exploring the impacts of the criminal justice system on families and while we are in rehearsals, we are not holding open ReEntry sessions. If you are interested in getting involved with the ReEntry Theatre Program, please contact Gabriella at gabriella@civicensemble.org or 607-622-0303.

ReEntry Theatre participants have put together this guide to local ReEntry resources. If there is something that you'd like to add to this list, suggestions can be sent to info@civicensemble.org
